Prove your commitment - Join your committee

I have just sent this email to LIS-CILIP-REG but it's not just aimed at Chatership candidates. . .

Are you based in the West Midlands?

Have you considered joining the CILIP West Midlands Branch Committee?

We meet once every 3 months and are very active in supporting the work of CILIP and CILIP Members.

So far this year we have (amongst other things):

  • Held a successful Members Day where the new CILIP President made his first speech since being in office
  • Continued to produce Open Access, a publication keeping West Mids LIS professionals in touch with what's happening in the region
  • Launched a photo competition to raise awareness of West Midlands Libraries (see http://www.flickr.com/groups/cilipwmlibphotocomp)
  • Maintained a Facebook Group to help keep members up to date (see http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=31273999486)
  • Supported the WM Career Development Group in attending an event to promote CILIP to NHS Knowledge Workers (see photos on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=31273999486&view=all)
  • Set up a Twitter account to make it easier to get news out to members and other interested parties (you can follow us at: https://twitter.com/CILIPWM)
  • Held a successful exhibition stand at Warwick University Careers Day to promote the profession to students
  • Started working to build closer links with Special Interest Groups in the West Mids
And it's only MAY!! What else will we get done before the year is out?

Do you want to be involved in a pro-active Branch who really believe in the value of supporting your profession?
Do you want to be able to stand up and say "I was part of that!" when we publicise some of our many success stories?
Do you want something really impressive for your portfolio and CV?

If you think you could both contribute to and benefit from being involved please get in touch with David Viner -  the Vice Chair of CILIP West Midlands - for further information. Email: cilipwm@me.com
